#Chapter1#Chapter2#Chapter3

The following year Liz bought herself a beautiful house her dream house. Soon after that she bought herself a car and not just a car but a very expensive car. She really spoiled herself. After all she deserved it after so much hard work. Everything was so good. Whenever she needed something she was able to buy it. Wow she no longer counted every cent she got.

Later on she met a handsome man of her dreams and they both had a baby girl Didintle. She was her pride and joy. At least she had made her own family. Life was good and she had everything she wanted. At least she thought so...

Time went by and she kept on buying so much clothes and shoes and bags and that made her feel good about herself. Beth must have been so happy she thought to herself. Years passed and Didi was now nine. Didi was very sad only because her mother was not happy. She saw it in her eyes. Like Liz used to see happiness in her mother's eyes the only difference is that this is the opposite of what Liz used to see in her mother. She went and sat next to her mother one evening and said mom? What do you want Didi? Can't you do your homework? I'm finished mom she replied. She come closer to her and asked "why are you so sad mom?" She was surprised how did she see that I'm sad? Then she quickly replied and said I’m fine why do you say that? She said I wish I was Kamogelo she and her family are so happy unlike us then she left.

That night the words of her daughter kept on going through her mind. The following morning she took Didi to the mall and bought her toys. Beth had the best toys and was happy so maybe that’s what Didi needs. Well it sure did the trick because Didi was happy after that after all she is just a young girl and girls love their toys.

Time went by and Liz still found herself unhappy. She kept on wondering why? She hardly gave her family attention. It was dinner next to the TV and off everyone goes to bed. Then she would put herself through a lot of work and forgot she had a husband and a daughter. Then one day she bumped on to Beth her long lost friend. "Beth my goodness how are, you?

I'm very well thanks and you? I'm ok… they talked for hours and after their long conversation Beth said to her now I know how happy you used to be when we grew up. I hope you took that spirit of your mother with you to your family. She then asked Beth what she meant. She said my family was wealthy but I was never happy but now that I'm leaving on my own without all that I'm really happy… she then left.

All night she was weeping and asked herself how did I end up here? The next morning she packed her bags and went to visit her very sick grandma. She was so happy to see her grand daughter after such a long time. Liz busted in to tears as she saw her grandma. She said grandma I'm not happy. I left home and embarked on a new life journey. It had all that I have ever wanted but I find myself unhappy even my daughter has seen my unhappiness.

Her grandma said you have been suppressing all your emotions of the loss of your family inside and thought material things will make you happy. "My child all that you are doing is bringing you momentary happiness and after that the happiness is gone." I grew up with nothing but was always happy but nowadays people use things to fill in their own void and substitute family for useless things. All we do is we want and want. Go back and share what you have and help others and see how much happiness that will bring to you and please give your family time. Teach little Didintle how to be happy without things but love her make her feel special do  not buy her happiness just show her love and tell her stories your mother used to tell you when you were young.

Liz went home and found a charity which she and her family were helping twice in a month and found the joy of giving and helping others. She had family time instead of work all the time. She even started narrating stories to her girl. Didi said to her mom you are really happy... and that's what she wanted her daughter to remember her about, her joy and smiles. Liz learned that true happiness comes from within not from material things. It took her twenty nine years to realize that but she was glad she could tell that to her daughter, If only my mom told me this before. Now I know why Beth wished to be me. If only I asked her maybe I could have had a better perspective in life but then again I had to learn this for myself.
